Nakba day division

Posted

To the editor:

Israel unequivocally informed Mayor Zohran Mamdani that his campaign portraying Palestinians as victims in a conflict they initiated is reprehensible.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry rightly denounced those who observed Nakba Day, citing a screenshot from an anti-Israel video posted by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Mamdani, true to form, is unaware that the “Nakba" was the result of the Arab rejection of the 1947 U.N. Partition Plan, and the Arab decision to launch war to annihilate Israel. "You can’t start a war, Mr. Mamdani, openly vow to obliterate Israel from the face of the earth, and then claim to be the victim of the conflict you initiated; it’s illogical.”

Mamdani posted on social media that Nakba Day commemorates “the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel.”

Mamdani’s “propaganda narrative” is a strategic storytelling framework used to manipulate and disseminate information for political reasons.

In his spin, Mamdani excluded a key fact. Between 1948 and 1970, 850,000 Jews were forcibly displaced from Arab countries after Israel was established.

Mamdani's ill-conceived narrative was posted across several official and social media platforms and will likely advance old antipathies and deepen divisions between New York City’s Palestinian and Jewish communities.

If Mayor Mamdani’s objective is to stir the cauldron of animus between the Palestinian and Jewish communities, he will be a one-term mayor—that’s a slam dunk!

Neither side is saintly in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But actions from either side in the late 1940s do not justify war crimes today. I won't say that Sica is befuddled for not understanding this. He's just willing to throw up any arguments to justify Trump's unjustifiable arguments.

My letter in summary: Israel criticized NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani for his campaign portraying Palestinians as victims, highlighting his omission of the Arab rejection of the 1947 U.N. Partition Plan and the subsequent war. Mamdani’s narrative, which excludes the forced displacement of Jews from Arab countries, risks deepening divisions between the Palestinian and Jewish communities. My short essay neither mentioned nor showered encomiums on President Trump.

The intention of my letter is to bring to the public forum Mayor Mamdani’s dissemination of propaganda on YouTube that could stir hostilities between the Palestinian and Jewish communities in NYC. In that respect, I believe that I succeeded.

You would think that the left-wing campaign against Israel and the Jewish community would be denounced by the world community, but the opposite is true. It’s painfully apparent that the world hasn’t learned anything from World War 1I’s historical accounts of the genocide against the Jewish people, which decimated two-thirds of Europe’s Jewish population. Even more puzzling is that the American media and the Democratic Party are largely responsible for much of the antisemitism domestically and abroad. The Democratic Party platform is Marxism, antisemitism, anti-Israelism, and anti-Americanism. What happened to my father’s Democratic Party?

Nothing happened to our fathers' Democratic party. The real question is what happened to working class voters like our fathers?

They believed in big government that did big things. A government that worked for working men and women, NOT their employers. FDR's New Deal, LBJ's Great Society that created Social Security, Fair wage and labor standards, the right to Unionize, OSHA, Medicare and Medicaid.

Unfortunately, all too many of our fathers' sons and daughters opted for small government that turned it's back on the many to favor the wealthy few.
