The Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the unions that represent most of its workers have reached an agreement that will presumptively extend a recently reached $500,000 death benefit to the families of the dozens of workers who have died from COVID-19.
The unions whose members are covered include Transport Workers Union Local 100, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART), and International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 808 (IBT).
