To the editor:
A recent letter ('Not in my house') rightly questions why 38 percent of Americans continue to support Donald Trump after witnessing ICE’s brutality towards immigrants (to which I would add the cold-blooded murders of Americans Renee Good and Alex Pretti). The author also questions how 77+ million voted for Trump after seeing his failed coup d’état.
However, I believe Trump’s cruelty towards immigrants is precisely why MAGA support remains strong. When Trump referred to Mexican immigrants this way – “they’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists” – in announcing his 2016 candidacy, Trump immediately won the loyalty of what we now call the MAGA base.
MAGA saw a kindred spirit, standing before TV cameras, unabashedly making the sort of vile comments that they only dared whisper in the ears of trusted friends for fear of being treated like pariahs in their workplaces and community. Suddenly the stigma was lifted, and for that, MAGA loves Trump.
Removing shame from “political incorrectness” has given Trump leeway to do things no politician ever could. MAGA overlooks Trump’s incessant lying, self-dealing corruption, wasteful spending on ballrooms, pools, arches, even unnecessary wars.
MAGA tolerates Trump’s unqualified cabinet, his harmful firings of vital government employees, his incompetent mismanagement of economic, domestic and foreign policies. And, MAGA forgives Trump’s stupid comments, even his blatant stupidity, because Trump allowed MAGA to express their ugliest sentiments about “others” without fear of reprisal.
As the author notes “hard-heartedness” is pervasive in MAGA and they’re unapologetic about it. Elon Musk told Joe Rogan “the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy," while Pastor Josh McPherson told his podcast audience “Empathy almost needs to be struck from the Christian vocabulary. Empathy is dangerous. Empathy is toxic."
License to publicly discriminate without guilt or consequence is MAGA’s version of the American Dream.

In your letter, you falsely claim that MAGA supports Trump because of your imaginary cruelty to immigrants, and Trump’s ability to eliminate the stigma of “political incorrectness” and allow MAGA to express their opinions without fear is a key reason for their support. is untrue. You’ve exhausted playing thr race-card months ago. You propagandize and wonder why? readers.ignore your disengenuous pleas. Your lies and imaginations have failed to influence anyone, which is why you’re frustrated and continue to write fictional essays about Trump and the MAGA movement. Instead of stating your hatred of Western civilization and the people who made America great, you’re mistaken. Those who disagree with your lies see through you.

Celestino P. Monclova:
Not to long ago I wrote a letter in the chief, reminding us all what Lyndon Johnson once said: if you can convince the lowest white person that he is more superior than the highest black person, not only will he not realize he’s being pickpocketed, he will even empty out his pockets. And that what Donald Trump provides in abundance, he has convinced all his followers that they are far more superior than illegal & legal immigrants, transgenders & the many minorities who inhabit the nation. Like Hitler, he even formed ICE & hired unqualified candidates to be his storm troopers & get handsomely paid to act no different than the German Nazis that terrorized the Jewish population & for that freedom, his followers say: thank you Donald Trump for allowing us to reveal who we really are & letting us be all we want to be.

Your comparison between Donald Trump’s rhetoric and Lyndon Johnson’s quote about white supremacy, as well as Hitler’s use of the SS against minorities, is flawed. In your ideal scenario, the United States should permit anyone, particularly undocumented immigrants, to disregard immigration laws because it is perceived as racist and demonstrates white superiority. The Trump administration prioritizes legal compliance and prosecutes individuals who violate the law. The law is impartial and should not be used to portray Trump and his supporters as racist and white supremacists when the reality is otherwise. Racists often resort to racial rhetoric when held accountable to the same laws and standards as law-abiding citizens. It is evident that you are unaware that numerous non-white and gay individuals voted for Mr. Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Thus, you should consider the fact that MAGA is a movement that does not exclude legal immigrants, transgender individuals, and other so-called minorities that contribute to the diverse tapestry of America and make it great. Peace be with you.

Meanwhile Wordman: you are okay with having a lawless president who was convicted of over thirty felony charges, heavy partook in sexual misconduct of innocent female minors & has been unethical making himself rich with a multitude of shady deals. You sir are a hypocrite in the most highest form. That is probably why you hide under the alias of Word Man.

Thank you Mr. Monclova, you summed up the essence of my letter reminding folks of LBJ's insight into human nature and Hitler's evil use of human pride.
MAGA followers like Word Man bristle at being call out for what is blatantly obvious - that racism is the glue that binds them to such a dishonest, incompetent person in Donald Trump.
As for getting their collective pockets picked, Trump's $2.2 billion earnings in 2025 - much of which came from oil-rich Arab emirates and Chinese "businessmen" - proves the case. In 12 short months, Trump earned more money than he did in his prior 78.5 years on this planet. Trump's 2026 earnings are running ahead of last year as over 3,700 stock transactions were all "winners" and were made moments before Trump made major trade and policy announcements.

You hateful gentlemen clearly lack the ability to write persuasive or witty commentaries. Your attempts only reveal your resemblance to the Evil Doers of history.

Monclova, the felony charges against Mr. Trump are as baseless as your posts. If hypocrisy is the name of the game, it’s you, Monclova, a man who supports illegal immigration simply because it aligns with your left-wing political agenda.

Two peas in a pod, Cannisi and Monclova.
Cannisi and Monclova, two wise-guys, hoot and holler lies, two insignificant flies.
They accuse others of racism, but they are the racists, is my quick, witty reply.
They advocate free goodies; tax the rich; to support criminal, illegal wise-guys.
Cannisi and Monclova are two socialist misfits; they propagandize and decry.
"Mr. Trump and his MAGA devotees are racists,” but they have no creditable basis.
Cannisi and Monclova often accuse others of crimes they commit, two insignificant flies.

Mr. Monclova, as you can see from Word Man's rambling rants and pathetic personal attacks, he is not a serious individual and should not be taken seriously. In fact, in a prior post, Word Man admitted that he doesn't even take himself seriously.
What is serious is that our nation is being led by a grifter who is unfit for office. The most clear-eyed analysis of Donald Trump came very early in his first term, from his first Sec. of State - former Exxon-Mobile CEO Rex Tillerson. Tillerson had never met Trump prior to being asked to take the SoS job and believed the public image that Trump manufactured - that he is a sharp, tough businessman who knows how to get things done. However, once Tillerson saw Trump in action, heard him speak at meetings, learned he never read anything and saw firsthand the decisions Trump made, Tillerson had the measure of the man. Trump repeatedly asked Tillerson to break the law and refused to take advice on legal ways to achieve policy goals. Frustrated, Tillerson summed up Trump in three words - "an f-ing moron".

Word Man, appears to be heavily influenced by his deranged cult leader & no matter how hard we try to wake him with the truth, he will continue to drink the kool aid his ruler has offered him. With that, all I can wish for lost & mislead men like word man is that (in time) they will seek help.

Similar to his puppeteers, Cannisi is delusional, brainwashed, and deeply committed to two disastrous ideologies: socialism and communism. Like his comrades in arms, he avoids discussing the atrocities committed by totalitarian dictatorships in the 20th century—socialism and communism. Under these ideologies, it becomes challenging to explain inalienable rights when governments redefine or abridge them. These ideologies are detrimental to the human species. To learn about National Socialism and its proponents, read “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” by William L. Shirer. Another book worth reading is “The Captive Mind” by Czeslaw Milosz, which explores communism and how misguided liberal intellectuals collaborated with the Communist Party. In Milosz’s book, he questions his own behavior regarding why he was deceived by Communist propaganda and the Communist Party. Socialism and communism are not only heartless systems of government but also fatal to the people whom the inhuman despots cold-bloodedly manipulate like puppets on a string.
In closing: Individuals who support socialism and communism, and their associated negative historical consequences, are the ones who are truly drinking Kool-Aid.
