A candidate challenging the incumbent president of District Council 37’s Local 372 has raised concerns that the imminent rerun of the local’s officer election will have too few voting sites.
On July 31, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ judicial panel voided Local 372’s June 7 election because turnout was impacted by the poor air quality attributable to smoke from wildfires in Canada. The judicial panel ordered the local to rerun its election within 45 days of the decision.
