Representatives from five unions representing thousands of Long Island Rail Road workers announced Monday that they’re asking President Donald Trump to intervene in negotiations between the unions and the MTA, staving off a strike that could have begun as early as Thursday.
Union officials said at a press conference on Monday that each labor organization has requested or will soon request that the Trump administration convene a presidential emergency board to issue recommendations for a contract in the hopes of reaching a deal.
