Healthcare workers, union leaders and local elected officials took to the cold sidewalk in front of Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn Wednesday to speak out against an infrastructure plan for the municipal hospital that workers said would put patients at risk.
Workers and members of the Committee of Interns and Residents union demanded an indefinite pause to the hospital’s plan, which would update the first-floor emergency department’s lone computed tomography scanner and put the machine out of commission for around six months at one of the nation’s busiest emergency departments.
