Over the objections of the Trump Administration, a Federal Judge ordered Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to give a deposition in a lawsuit led by the State of New York challenging a plan to include in the 2020 Census a question asking respondents whether they are U.S. citizens.
In his order Sept. 21, U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman said that Mr. Ross had made contradictory statements about the issue and that questioning him under oath might clear them up.
