To the editor:

I don't care about what Bruce Springsteen — or any other multimillionaire celebrity who doesn't worry about paying for the necessities of life — has to say about President Trump ("No Surrender," Letters, The Chief, May 30) . When a celebrity endorses a product or service, I don't buy it. When a celebrity discusses a politician, I ignore it.

What did Springsteen accomplish? Did he say anything about Trump we haven't heard ad nauseum and ad infinitum? Can his presumably mostly British audience lobby Congress for impeachment? Vote him out of office? Alter any of his initiatives?

Springsteen and his fellow A-listers arguably helped Harris lose by giving Americans the perception that the Democrats are out-of-touch elitists. Is Trump's presidency going to cease because of Springsteen?

Disagree as I might with Mr. Gorman, the letter writer, his service to this country at arguably the height of a bitter, divisive war give him extra stature and credibility to criticize Trump. What gives Springsteen more credibility than your "average" citizen? Strumming a guitar and singing about the "average man/woman?"

How is it that support of politicians by celebrities almost always is limited to celebrities who support Democrats? Also, I would commend any citizen, celebrity or not, who expresses honest, well-meaning political views. When celebrities do so, it shows courage since it would be easier to keep quiet and avoid offending someone.

Mr. Weiner, I commend you for writing a sincere letter that refrains from political propaganda and unnecessary fluff. I wholeheartedly concur with your viewpoint on Bruce Springsteen and other A-listers who consistently criticize President Trump without making any substantial impact. Springsteen and other elitists share the same elitist mindset as the Democrats, leading them to support the Democratic Party. Your observation that Springsteen and other A-listers are out-of-touch elitists is entirely accurate. However, it’s crucial to acknowledge that President Trump has a diverse range of supporters, including prominent celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, James Woods, and Kid Rock. This support has marked a notable shift in Hollywood, where pro-Trump sentiments have become more mainstream.

    J. Donne just proved @Admin's point!

Celebrities who endorse Democrats are "out-of-touch elitists" to the MAGA crowd. Yet, when millionaire celebrities (like Stallone) support the GOP, those endorsers represent "a diverse range of supporters". Talk about "political propaganda and unnecessary fluff".

The main point of my letter is clear! I concur with Mr. Weiner. His analysis of B. Springsteen and other elitist celebrities who criticize President Trump without any impact is pertinent to the ongoing debate. President Trump has a diverse range of supporters, including prominent celebrities, as do Democrats. My post does not contradict @ Admin’s opinion; it provided additional information to the debate. It neither agreed nor disagreed with @Admin’s post; instead, it enriched the debate by broadening its scope.

Regarding Mr. Weiner’s letter, I found it to be well-written and devoid of political propaganda and fluff, which is a refreshing change!
