In the subway, arrests are up, but so is crime

Despite surge in police

Subway crime showed few signs of ebbing, despite the influx of police throughout the system late last month. 

The NYPD, in conjunction with MTA Police efforts, increased its presence to combat both an actual increase in crime on trains and on platforms and also what Mayor Eric Adams called a perception of rising crime underground.
