To the Editor: Concerning James Rodenas’s letter in the Sept. 27 issue responding to my Sept. 13 letter calling for mandatory surrender of assault rifles, he describes himself as a pragmatist, libertarian, and originalist.
The October issue of Newsmax Magazine has an article focusing on the following numbers: 10 shooters, 613 dead, 292 wounded. All the shooters passed background checks—they are useless. The same is true of red-light lists: a determined shooter can get a weapon from a surrogate. One got body armor and other equipment; it could just as easily have been a weapon.
