A Federal Correctional Officer and an inmate’s girlfriend were charged Jan. 12 with smuggling contraband into the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Prosecutors working for the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District said the girlfriend, Alicia Alonso, 31, of Woodbridge, N.J., provided the officer, Armando Moronta, 38, of Brooklyn, with contraband, including cellular phones; the narcotic Suboxone, used to treat heroin addiction; and K2, as synthetic marijuana is known.
