H+H doctors have tentative deal

Planned strike by 1,000 physicians likely avoided

Doctors with the city’s public hospital system and their employers arrived at a tentative contract agreement Monday following mediation to avert a planned work stoppage.

The two-year pact, which must still be ratified by the doctors, would provide about 2,500 doctors at New York City Health + Hospitals with significant base salary increases and retention bonuses. Their union, the Doctors Council, settled the deal with four private-sector affiliates that employ the vast majority of doctors in the city’s hospital system, including the Physician Affiliate Group of New York and Mount Sinai.
