Decentralized truth

Posted

To the editor:

George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984 warned of a “Big Brother” state-run Ministry of Truth that controlled the information citizens received.

If any country today resembles 1984, most Americans would name Iran. Iran’s “leader,” Mojtaba Khameini, son of the late Supreme Leader, has never been seen in public, even at his father’s funeral, but is omnipresent in large billboards and state-controlled media.

Today, 1984 is a political metaphor for far-left commentators, not in its original meaning. It signifies the corruption and weaponization of truth by the powerful, leading to diverse political narratives from competing factions in a fractured media environment without a single “Ministry of Truth.”

Orwell’s vision of a single, centralized “Big Brother” controlling information is achieved today through decentralization. Instead of a state-run Ministry of Truth, a fragmented media ecosystem creates multiple competing “Ministries of Truth.”

In Orwell’s world, truth denial was called “doublespeak,” a method of distorting or reversing reality to obscure undeniable evidence. George Orwell’s 1984 remains relevant as it warns of language manipulation’s corruption of truth.

Orwell understood that controlling words shapes people’s perceptions of reality. A free society relies on our ability to distinguish fact from fiction, evidence from propaganda, and honest debate from political doublespeak.

This standard should be applied equally to distortion emanating from the left, right, corporations, foreign governments or activist groups.

    Krell 1349,

In my view, the Democratic Party’s agenda mirrors Orwell’s warning in 1984.

As a committed democratic socialist, George Orwell was deeply concerned by the ease with which Western intellectuals and ordinary citizens succumbed to authoritarian thinking after World War II.

( Orwell didn’t intend the book to predict the future, but to portray the chilling consequences of surrendering individual freedoms and objective truth to power-hungry states. )

His warning to his readers was: “Don’t let it happen. It’s up to you.”

Orwell’s 1984 focuses on the dangers of totalitarianism and mass surveillance of individuals by the government. This is Trump, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, the Republican congressional Trump acolytes, and the wealthy would be autocrats. I don’t think the “writer with 100 pseudonyms” read or understood “1984.”

    Decentralized Truth in Verse

    The Watchful Eye

    The dark book Nineteen-Eighty-Four proclaims

That Orwell bids the modern world beware.

    This tyrant plays a fierce and deadly game;

The Ministry of Truth breeds deep despair.

The telescreens record each casual glance,

And hidden ears await a traitor's breath.

    No citizen can join the joyful dance;

A single thoughtcrime seals a sudden death.

Past records burn as ancient freedoms die,

While watchful eyes command the human soul.

The broken world submits without a sigh,

And loves Big Brother who maintains control.

Your blind mind butchered what was read,

Go read again, clear out your view.

    You warped the simple words I said;

As it stands now, your post is untrue.

Washington DC buildings that featured large, oversized images of "Big Brother" Donald J. Trump (costing US taxpayers over $1 million):

    Department of Justice

    Department of Agriculture

    Department of HHS

    Department of Labor

I left out special issue US Passports, a proposed $250 bill, a $1 "gold" coin and much more. I think Sica/Word Man needs to re-read 1984.

Great, restful weekends wait for us at last.

Indeed, don't grieve for what is left undone,

For heavy burdens of the week have passed.

Until next week, I bid you all adieu,

In your recent remarks, you have chosen once more to post half-truths... yet you must know that the facts will inevitably come to light...and your deception will be laid bare. So let it be.

The claims made in your message are half-truths; they combine verified news about real federal building banners with unverified or satirical rumors.

Recent investigations and disclosed federal contracts confirm that massive banners featuring President Donald Trump's face have indeed been hung outside several major Washington, D.C. headquarters.

These include the Department of Justice, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Labor.

However, the total cost for these specific promotional banners across D.C. is estimated around $175,000—not over $1 million. The widely reported $1 million figure actually refers to a broader "RFK Beautification Project" at the DOJ, which bundled the banner installation with major building maintenance like structural cleaning and lighting upgrades.

Furthermore, allegations regarding a $250 bill, specialized passports, and a $1 "gold" coin are unsupported by official government actions and appear to stem from online satire, political commentary, or commercial novelty merchandise.

With quiet resolve, President Donald Trump aims to dismantle Iran’s nuclear forge. This heavy labor seeks not to crush, but to lift—extending to the long-suffering Iranian people a gentle blanket of peace. It is a grand, difficult ambition, hoping to replace the cold shadow of anxiety with the warm sunlight of security. Can one man, with a mere 901 days remaining in his presidency, truly weave a fabric of peace strong enough to cover so ancient and troubled a land?

News flash for Word Man/R Sica directly from the US House website:

    H.R.1761 — 119th Congress (2025-2026)

    All Information (Except Text)

There is one summary for H.R.1761. Bill summaries are authored by CRS.

    Shown Here:

    Introduced in House (02/27/2025)

Donald J. Trump $250 Bill Act

This bill requires the Department of the Treasury to print paper currency in the denomination of $250 featuring a portrait of President Donald Trump.

Under current law, U.S. currency may only feature the portrait of a deceased person. The bill creates an exception for individuals who are or were President of the United States.

As Joe Friday would say - no satire, no political commentary or novelty - just the facts.

    From the State Department website:

"The commemorative passport features custom artwork connecting America’s past to the present, including a portrait of President Donald J. Trump alongside the text of the Declaration of Independence, a Freedom 250 gold flag, and an image of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence."

    From the U.S. Mint website:

"2026 Semi quincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin.

Coming this fall. The 2026 Semi quincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin will be released into circulation and available for purchase in bags and rolls, exclusively from the United States Mint."

Trump could teach Big Brother a few tricks.

How many times must you make a liar of yourself?

    The fact of the matter:

“ The U.S. State Department” has officially introduced a limited-edition "Patriot Passport" to commemorate the Semiquincentennial (America's 250th anniversary). The interior artwork features a portrait of President Trump over the text of the Declaration of Independence. The facing page depicts the Founding Fathers signing the document. Additionally, the back cover includes a "Freedom 250" gold laminate American flag with the number 250 encircled by stars.

    PS:

    Plainly, you're a liar.

    Deceit twists your every word.

    Trust burns down to ash….

Can Sica get any dumber? He posts "allegations regarding a $250 bill, specialized passports, and a $1 "gold" coin are unsupported by official government actions and appear to stem from online satire, political commentary, or commercial novelty merchandise." Then, goes on to confirm that the Trump $250 bill, $1 dollar coin and Patriot Passport were all officially issued by the U.S. Mint and State Department. It's one thing to be taken for a ride by a con man, it's another to stay on board to the end of the line.

Sica is a living, breathing example of doublespeak. What a brainwashed tool!
