DC 37 Retirees Association's takeover upheld

The administratorship imposed on the District Council 37 Retirees Association earlier this year has been upheld by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ judicial panel, which ruled that the association’s leadership “do not have the capacity or apparently the will to appropriately safeguard the assets of the organization.”

The Retirees Association was placed under an emergency administratorship and had its officers suspended in February because it had failed to file tax returns for the past six years and had lost its tax-exempt status. The association represents more than 25,000 retired DC 37 members.
