Bronx City Councilman Ritchie Torres has tested positive for coronavirus and will be quarantined for several weeks, Council Speaker Corey Johnson announced March 17. Members of his staff are also under quarantine.
The Speaker said that the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, which had already been doing additional cleaning at City Hall, would conduct extra work as a precautionary measure. Mr. Torres has last been at City Hall March 10, according to a Council statement; its offices there, as well as across the street at 250 Broadway, were closed beginning March 16.
