Construction kickback scheme netted $7 million

83-count indictment names two dozen people

A kickback scheme orchestrated by a construction executive who manipulated bidding for jobs on upscale Manhattan projects netted more than $7 million for himself and others during an eight-year period, authorities said Wednesday. 

Robert Baselice, conspiring with two dozen associates and their firms, provided colluding subcontractors with inside information on competing bids in exchange for significant paydays, according to the Manhattan District Attorney office and the city’s Department of Investigation.
