Panda Express, Au Bon Pain, and 7-Eleven's ‘Raise the Roost’ location in Greenwich Village will collectively have to pay $4.5 million in restitution to nearly 2,400 workers for violating New York City’s Fair Workweek Law. City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga announced the penalties on Wednesday after months of investigations into alleged violations.
“Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is already a challenge for so many New Yorkers, but it’s nearly impossible without a predictable work schedule,” Mayuga said in a statement. “Predictable scheduling allows working New Yorkers to balance taking care of themselves, their families, and loved ones. To all New York City fast food workers, if you believe you have been experiencing unfair scheduling in your workplace, we urge you to contact us as soon as possible.”
