Timothy Brown, the man beaten by two detectives in a Brooklyn liquor store two weeks ago, has taken steps toward filing a $100 million lawsuit against the city, the NYPD and the two detectives involved in the incident.
Brown filed a notice of claim with office of City Comptroller Mark Levine on April 27, alleging that the officers violated his rights when they beat and arrested him inside BK Wine Depot. The filing is a required first step that can lead either to a settlement with the city or to formal litigation.
