At Last: Cancer Coverage for 9/11 Responders

For nearly seven years prior to 2011, I and many other First-Responder advocates frequently pointed out when, in our opinions, the 9/11 First-Responder Community was being treated unfairly. Until the President signed the James Zadroga 9/11 Health & Compensation Act into law on January 3, 2011, it seemed as if the Federal government would forget the brave men and women whose acts of heroism are forever etched in our nation’s amazing history. Today, I and the collective "we" must equally point out where our government has chosen to protect us, and we should applaud the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) recommendation to cover upwards of 50 cancers for health care.
