‘Activist’ building superintendent looks to unseat Council incumbent

Chelsea resident wants more representation for city’s blue-collar residents

Early mornings, Dominick Romeo emerges from his basement apartment on West 18th Street, and sweeps and hoses a section of sidewalk. Back inside the building, he straightens out the garbage area. Then it’s on to the building’s lobby, where he vacuums, mops and cleans the windows. 

After that, he will spend an hour or so on his laptop, reading and responding to issues and concerns of the dozens of residents who live in the condo building. The rest of his workday consists of making repairs, doing routine maintenance and answering even more emails and calls from building residents.
