Three correction officers working at Rikers Island deceived doctors, clinicians and state officials to scheme the city of nearly $1 million in workers’ comp claims by faking injuries they attributed to violent confrontations with inmates, according to federal indictments unsealed Monday.
Current Department of Correction Officer Todd Faustin and former Officers Jovanny Concepcion and Steven Murphy were arrested Monday — the same day the city’s Department of Investigation released a report finding that the city paid out “excessive” workers comp claims in Fiscal Year 2024.
