Three youth development specialists with the city’s Administration for Children’s Services have been charged in federal court with participating in a bribery scheme in which they allegedly smuggled marijuana, tobacco and other contraband into Crossroads Juvenile Center in Brooklyn in exchange for thousands of dollars sent through mobile payment apps. The charges follow a separate arrest last week of another ACS staffer accused of similar conduct, also at Crossroads.
The defendants — Evan L. Hamilton, 34, of Queens; Linard King, 41, of Newark, N.J.; and Dra-Quan Whitmore, 34, of St. James, N.Y. — were each charged with conspiracy to commit Travel Act bribery. They were released on secured bonds following their appearances last Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
