Two city correction officers suffered deep cuts following a slashing attack Wednesday afternoon by a notoriously violent inmate being held on murder charges at a Rikers Island jail.
One of the officers needed 17 stitches to close a deep and long wound across his head while the other needed seven stitches to close a cut across his face, according to the president of their union, the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association’s Benny Boscio Jr. Neither of the officers was identified.
