To the Editor: According to the New York Post, on Nov. 5, Rikers Island inmates started a fire that "quickly engulfed a housing unit in dark and heavy smoke," injuring eight.
On March 10, a group of inmates started a dozen fires. They were transferred to another Rikers jail, where they set 30 additional fires the next day and 12 more the day after that.
