The unanswered question regarding Hillary Clinton both prior to and during her 2016 run for President when she said and did things that created the impression she had distanced herself from a good segment of the Democratic Party base was why no one close to her had made clear she was on the wrong course.
With President Trump, a reasonable surmise for how he wound up getting impeached is possible based on his personality: it’s not that he wasn’t warned, it’s that he was convinced that rules laid out in documents like the Constitution didn’t really apply to him.
