Verizon Workers Protest City Mandate On Vaccination; Face Feb. 9 Deadline

Dozens of Verizon workers rallied in front of the City Council's 250 Broadway offices Feb. 1 to protest the telecommunications giant's plans to suspend Feb. 9 any employee who was not vaccinated or had applied for either a medical or religious accommodation, as required under former Mayor Bill de Blasio's private-sector mandate.

Council Member Ari Hagan told the members of Communications Workers of America Local 1109, which represents Verizon's 2,500 employees in Brooklyn and Suffolk County, that he supported their call for the end of the mandate.
