UFT: DOE Contact-Tracing Plan Doesn't Do Enough

Mayor de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza announced that city public schools will have their own contact-tracing team—but that wasn’t enough to satisfy the United Federation of Teachers, which launched an online petition calling on the Department of Education to boost safety protocols before schools open in September.

Contact tracers will be responsible for investigating coronavirus cases in the city’s 1,800 public schools, which have 1.1 million students and more than 170,000 employees.
