As a Labor Day deadline looms for Metropolitan Transportation Authority employees to offer proof of vaccination or submit to weekly testing, tens of thousands of Transport Workers Union Local 100 members have yet to get the shot.
According to the MTA, only 48.3 percent of all of New York City Transit, MTA Bus and Staten Island Railroad employees—24,335 workers—have had at least one shot. On the other end of the compliance scale are the 1,775 employees with MTA Construction and Development, 86.5 percent of whom have gotten their first shot.
