There were fewer than five dozen school suspensions during the second half of 2020 because the majority of students were learning remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to an Oct. 14 report from Chalkbeat.
The education-news outlet obtained City Council data showing that between July and December 2020, just 56 students received suspensions, compared to 10,014 during the same period a year earlier.
