Amid growing criticism of police involvement in social-distancing enforcement, the NYPD has deployed more than 600 School Safety Agents to encourage New Yorkers to wear face masks and avoid social gatherings.
NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea spoke of the School Safety Agents who were tasked with distributing face masks in parks across the city during a Q&A posted to Twitter May 14.
