NYPD Mounted Unit Still Riding Tall In Saddle Amid Coronavirus Crisis

The city's COVID-19 lockdown has upended much of what is characteristic New York street life, yet throughout the crisis the NYPD's Mounted Patrol Unit has maintained its presence as a fixture that it established in 1858.

Officers assigned to the 50-horse unit are taking extra precautions for themselves and their charges, including asking the public to observe social distancing.
