MTA Approved Reorganization Plan Despite Lack of Review, Public Input

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board voted July 24 to approve a controversial reorganization plan drawn up by a consultant that says the cash-strapped agency could save more than a half-billion dollars annually over the next three years by eliminating 2,700 jobs.

The agency is projecting to have almost a billion-dollar deficit by 2023.
