Months after the Fire Department began offering members access to the Moderna vaccine, less than half of the entry-level Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians have gotten their initial dose, according to the department.
As of April 8, 5,270 Firefighters—49 percent of the active-duty roster—and 2,100 Emergency Medical Technicians, or 46 percent of those in that job title, have gotten their initial dose. Among FDNY civilian workforce, some 1,100 employees, just over 50 percent, have had at least their first round of Moderna.
