Monahan Leaves NYPD For City 'Recovery' Role

The NYPD’s top uniformed cop has left the agency. 

Chief of Department Terence Monahan, who fused an old-school law-enforcement temperament with novel tactical thinking as a principal architect of the agency’s community-policing philosophy while adapting to the demands of a department increasingly reliant on technology during a nearly 40-year tenure with the agency, will step into a senior adviser role as part of Mayor de Blasio's newly instituted COVID-recovery team.
