Local 372 Dissidents Can Run as a Slate

A State Supreme Court Justice March 2 permitted the dissident candidates in District Council 37 Local 372’s election to run as a slate—and  ordered the union to release its financial records to the challengers before conducting the election.

Last September, veteran labor lawyer Arthur Schwartz filed a lawsuit on behalf of Paul Brathwaite, a Senior School Lunch Worker vying to unseat incumbent President Shaun Francois, and Anthony Gordon, a Parent Coordinator running against Executive Vice President Donald Nesbit, after their Team Quiet Storm was denied a slate box on ballots that were set to be mailed to members.
