The Civilian Complaint Review Board is within its purview to investigate and prosecute sexual-misconduct allegations against NYPD officers, a State Supreme Court Justice ruled.
The decision, issued Nov. 9, was a blow to two police unions that filed suit to prevent the CCRB from examining such claims. Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Laurence Love also found that the board can pursue allegations of “intentionally untruthful testimony” by officers, the second of the board’s recent rule changes challenged by the Police Benevolent Association and the Sergeants Benevolent Association.
