In Spirited Debate, Nixon Repeats Vow To Legalize Strikes

Cynthia Nixon argued during her Aug. 29 debate with Governor Cuomo that ending the Taylor Law prohibition against strikes by public employees would not have the “crippling effect” on the affected jurisdictions that the three-day city transit walk-out of 2005 did because public opinion would serve as a reality check on irresponsible behavior by unions.

She said that in response to a question by Marcia Kramer, the chief political correspondent for WCBS-TV, which televised the face-off with the Governor at Hofstra University, their one debate prior to the Sept. 13 Democratic primary.
