Nurses at NYC Health + Hospitals overwhelmingly voted Dec. 13 to ratify a “historical” contract that for the first time sets staffing ratios that the New York State Nurses Association, which represents about 9,500 nurses working in the public hospital system, believed would help address retention and recruitment problems.
The 45-month pact includes a 2-percent raise retroactive to July 6, a 2.25-percent raise July 6, 2020, a 0.25-percent increase April 6, 2021, and a final 3-percent raise Aug. 6, 2021. The deal, which is retroactive to June 6, expires March 2, 2023.
