Emergency Medical Service union leaders welcomed the Fire Department's provision of a new, reusable respirators to replace the disposable N95 masks used for most of the coronavirus pandemic that have been in short supply nationally.
According to an FDNY fact sheet, the new elastomeric protective filters can be worn for extended periods of time, are easy to clean and will reduce dependence on the N95 supply chain.
