Governor Cuomo earlier this month floated the idea of moving up, by several weeks, the state’s presidential primary. Doing so, he would later reason during a radio interview, would give New Yorkers a greater say in the nomination process.
The proposal failed to gain traction, with prominent state Democratic leaders opposed. The Governor would later suggest he had anticipated as much, calling his own proposition not “politically viable.”
