Governor Cuomo, who less than a week earlier praised President Trump for being responsive to his requests for help in addressing the coronavirus pandemic, March 24 expressed frustration that he had not used his special powers to speed production of ventilators desperately needed statewide for treatment.
In his daily briefing, he took issue with Mr. Trump's statements a day earlier indicating that he believed that continuing to isolate people to stem the spread of the disease might be taking too great a toll on the American economy. The President said at a White House briefing, "America will again, and soon, be open for business...We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself."
