Broken-Windows Critic Gangi Will Challenge De Blasio in Primary

Robert Gangi’s criminal-justice-reform proposals have been steadfastly ignored by Mayor de Blasio. This week, the longtime social-justice activist planned to announce that he will run against him for the Democratic nomination for Mayor.

Mr. Gangi’s cause is ending “broken-windows” policing, the theory that strict enforcement of minor violations such as turnstile-jumping, panhandling, public drinking and being in a park after dark will deter more serious crimes such as robbery and murder.
