The City Council is set to have a female majority, if the preliminary results of the June 22 primary hold.
Currently, out of the 51 Council seats, just 14 are held by women. Female candidates were ahead in 29 Democratic races, while women also led in two Republican primaries, meaning there was a good chance that for the first time women could make up the majority.
