Appeals Court Rules CO Firing Seems ‘Bad Faith’

The firing of a Probationary Correction Officer after a Rikers Island inmate died from swallowing a toxic soap ball “appears to be questionable and in bad faith,” and his lawsuit challenging it should not have been dismissed, a state appeals court has ruled.

The decision could have wide implications for probationary employees, an attorney for the former CO said.
