Albany Medical Center has agreed to pay $90,229 in restitution and interest to seven former Nurses recruited from foreign countries who were forced to pay unlawful fees after leaving their positions, according to State Attorney General Letitia James.
The Attorney General’s Office found that since at least 2011, the employment contract covering foreign Nurses recruited via a permanent visa arrangement included an “illegal” repayment-fee provision that required them to pay up to $20,000 if they quit or were fired within three years.
