BuzzFeed

A recent 4-hour walkout by BuzzFeed News staffers designed to pressure management to come to the bargaining table is the latest example of online publications’ unionization efforts, The New York Times reported. Since 2015, reporter, editors and other news staff at Gawker, Slate, Salon, Vice, New York Magazine’s online verticals and other outlets have unionized. The new wave has unionized about 2,000 workers, according to organizers at the News Guild and the Writers Guild of America East quoted by The Times.
