A day to honor and recognize the American labor movement—and to pay tribute to workers—was conceived in the late 19th century. While most of us mark the first Monday in September as a holiday, the nature of some jobs keeps others working. Photographer Rebecca White recently tagged along with a few of the people who keep the city safe, clean and moving.
