To the Editor:
The United States, acting jointly with its NATO allies, has rightfully given billions of dollars in military and economic aid to Ukraine as it fights against the Russian invasion. Unfortunately, there has been talk in Washington of “permanently weakening” or defeating Russia, engaging in a “proxy war,” backing Ukraine until “the fight is done” even if it takes years, regime change and trying Putin and other Russian leaders for war crimes and genocide.
