In 2012, the year after Congressman Anthony Weiner inadvertently turned a photo of his crotch clad only in underpants that he intended for a few select constituents into a mass mailing that forced his resignation, the Inner Circle responded with a barbershop quartet singing a parody of "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" that began, "I will keep my pants on if you vote for me."
This attempt to establish minimum standards for New York officeholders has had some success, in that aside from Mr. Weiner at a time in mid-2013 when he was ahead in the polls for the Democratic mayoral primary, there have been no repeats of that particular piece of political insanity.
