Legislation introduced by state lawmakers would exempt first responders, veterans, medical personnel and others from the newly instituted congestion pricing toll when they drive into Manhattan’s central business district with their personal vehicle.
One of the bills, introduced by Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato earlier this month, would exempt first responders employed by any public entity, whether state or municipal, or who work for “a recognized corporation or authority, or certified organization,” who as part of their duties have to cross into the CBD, which for purposes of the toll, begins at 60th Street.
